According to Harvard Health Publishing, a recent study at the University of British Columbia found that regular aerobic exercise not only helps us lose weight, lower our blood pressure, prevent depression and many choric diseases like cancer, but it also helps boost the size of the hippocampus. The hippocampus is the part of the brain involved with verbal memory and learning. Interestingly weight and resistance training for balance and muscle toning did not have the same results.
Having a regular aerobic exercise practice works to improve our learning and memory by reducing inflammation and stimulating the release of chemicals in the brain that help stimulate the growth of new blood vessels brain. What that means for us is that we need to keep lacing up those shoes and getting out there and sweating for the good of our brains🧠
